Job Title: Google Ads / PPC Manager
Job Category: Full-Time Employee
Location: 113 W Front St Suite 305; Missoula, MT 59802
Start Date: March 1st (flexible)

MISSION

At TOMIS, we believe that tour and activity companies are a keystone benefit to local communities and the tourists that visit them. We are obsessed with providing these businesses with the tools they need to grow, thrive, and compete on a level playing field with the giant corporations of the travel industry.

VISION

The tours and activities industry is a $183B severely underserved industry. And it’s growing with millennial purchasing power.

ABOUT THE ROLE

TOMIS is seeking a motivated and dedicated Customer Success Manager to join our growing team. TOMIS is a fast-growing tech startup based in Missoula and we expect the nature of the role to evolve over time. The goal, however, will remain the same – maximize retention and loyalty among our quickly growing customer base.

To achieve this goal, the TOMIS Customer Success Manager will be responsible for initiating and maintaining customer relationships that drive value throughout the customer lifecycle. Your job will evolve with the development of TOMIS, but responsibilities will include:

1) Onboarding

You will be responsible for onboarding new clients as we bring our SaaS application to market. This includes setting up the client’s TOMIS account and conducting onboarding and training calls. You will identify and record clients’ short-, mid-, and long-term goals in using TOMIS. Your primary objective during onboarding will be to help each client reach their “Aha!” moment as quickly as possible.

2) Success

Success is a proactive role that involves working closely with clients to help them achieve their goals by using TOMIS. You will encourage usage and adoption of the TOMIS software. You will hold regular strategy calls with clients where you use TOMIS to help them understand their business, identify opportunities, and create plans to grow their businesses (and track and report on progress along the way). Your primary objective will be to help clients derive maximum value from their investment in TOMIS – creating an evangelical customer base along the way.

3) Support

Support is a reactive role. Answer client questions and solve client problems by providing support through three main channels: phone, email, and chat. TOMIS will empower and encourage you to take full ownership of issues from start to finish, though successful resolution for some issues may involve working closely with the product development and business operations teams. Your goal will be to provide such quick, friendly, and helpful service that at least three customers invite you to their weddings.

4) Product

You will be the “Voice of the Customer” in our software development efforts. Help us continue to improve and develop the TOMIS software by listening closely to client requests, frustrations, and unmet opportunities. Prioritize and communicate these needs to our product development team to inform our client roadmap and relentlessly increase the value of TOMIS.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Self-motivated, energetic, and passionate personality
  • Quick adaptor to changing priorities
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • An effective professional who can hit deadlines
  • A good understanding of how startups, marketing, sales, and SaaS work
  • Prior experience in software support, onboarding, or Customer Success
  • Strong relationship management, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maximize customer lifetime value
  • Minimize customer churn
  • Account onboarding, success, and support
  • Turn clients into promoters
  • Up-sell / cross-sell TOMIS products

But, it remains one of the world’s largest industries without Billion $ company helping suppliers aggregate their data and automate their marketing.

Why?

The industry is dominated by 100k+ small businesses with complex workflows, small budgets, and a lack of technical know-how. For years, this precluded the development of a digital foundation upon which to build a marketing platform.

But that has changed.

Modern reservation systems have digitized tens of thousands of tour providers over the last 5 years.

Despite this, each individual company is still marketing its services in a silo – akin to the individual bookseller pre-Amazon.

There is tremendous potential in aggregating this data and using machine learning/AI to automate marketing efforts, increase conversion rates, optimize pricing, build booking propensity models, and share leads.

And that’s exactly what TOMIS is doing. Our vision is to:

  1. Build the first AI-powered marketing platform for the tour and activity industry
  2. Scale into additional underserved verticals.

WHY WE’RE HIRING A VP ENGINEERING

As we scale our engineering team, there are 3 large problems we’d like to solve, and one big problem we’d like to preempt.

Current Problem #1: Attract and hire TOP engineering talent as we expand

Current Problem #2: Build strong technical infrastructure as we prepare to scale existing SaaS revenue streams and turn on additional ones

Current Problem #3: Plan a tight product roadmap that balances innovative feature development with technical considerations. Execute it with flawless on-time delivery

Future Problem to Preempt: Lay strong foundations for an engineering culture and operational framework that will evolve and improve as we scale, rather than crumble and implode under the weight of a quickly growing business.

Can you help us not just solve these problems, but turn them into the key strengths of a quickly growing engineering organization?

SIGNS THIS MIGHT BE YOUR DREAM JOB…

  • Do you desire to not just build a tech company but pioneer and become a pillar of a tech community? The tech scene in Missoula is poised to explode, and TOMIS is deeply involved in every aspect of this community and its growth
  • Are you passionate about big data, but think of yourself as more “trailblazer” than “farmer”? You will be the first person in the world to architect, plan for, and scale an organization and product that eventually support trillions of data points for the $180B+ Tours and Activities Industry

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serve as a key member of the management team that sets TOMIS’s strategic direction.
  2. Craft a detailed plan to execute on the product needs of TOMIS’s corporate strategy
  3. Recruit, hire, support, inspire, manage, and lead a team of exceptional engineers.
  4. Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department.
  5. Assure engineering achieves objectives and project completion within budget and time frame.
  6. Be a student of current industry trends. Ensure TOMIS maintains and expands its technology leadership position.
  7. Provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on help and support: be happy to get in the mud and roll around.
  8. Identify, implement, and refine the necessary formal process to support the product development process.
  9. Hire, promote, train, and support our first layer of engineering managers as we grow

You should be able to OWN all these things while shipping quality product and giving the rest of the organization transparency into the process.

QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS

  1. Experience: Minimum, 10+ years of software experience, with at least 5 years in a management position.
  2. You are a blackbelt engineer yourself
  3. Proven ability to recruit and hire other blackbelt engineers
  4. Proven ability to create and lead a thriving engineering culture that retains, challenges, grows, supports, and educates blackbelt engineers
  5. You can create a product roadmap that balances innovative feature builds with tech debt and infrastructure considerations
  6. Proven ability to execute on a product roadmap with on-time delivery
  7. Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem-solving and change management skills.
  8. Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
