RIVER RIDERS

Learn how TOMIS rearchitected and redesigned the website for an adventure park out of Harpers Ferry, WV–all leading to a 20% YoY increase in online revenue.  

The Client

River Riders is the premier destination for outdoor adventures and experiences in Harpers Ferry, WV.  They provide a wide variety of outdoor activities, lodging options (camping, RV sites, rentals, etc…), and several dining establishments to ensure an unforgettable experience. They’re a robust operation and a key activity center highly-trafficked Harpers Ferry region. 

The Problem

River Riders is a sprawling adventure park that has grown tremendously from its humble beginnings running river trips out of Harpers Ferry. In addition to rafting, they have tubing, ziplining, camping, cabin rentals, snow tubing, and much more. 

Their previous website struggled to keep up in accurately explaining all of the options that River Riders has to offer. And key offerings like passes and lodging were getting lost in the shuffle. 

Additionally, the website failed to highlight all of River Riders’ unique strengths and selling points. And the design felt cluttered and outdated.

They needed a new website, not only for a fresh design, but one better suited to guide site visitors through all the options, get them excited and sell on a visit, and better convert visitors to customers.

Our Strategy

Our primary goal was to rebuild the site architecture from the ground up to improve the navigation and user journey. 

We audited the nearly 230 pages on the previous site and found opportunities to consolidate and eliminate nearly 50% of the existing pages. All this led to an improved user experience and a streamlined site that was far easier to navigate. 

Additionally, we worked on refreshing the design and UI.

  • New color options gave the site a brighter and more approachable feel.
  • While new, flexible UI sections were built to give the River Riders team a dynamic tool to highlight and promote offerings. 
  • Finally, a new mega menu made it easier to explore and discover the full range of activities.
